Writing work samples

WTN Magazine
WTN Magazine was the bi-monthly magazine of the Women’s Television Network distributed nationally through newspaper insertion. While working at Taylor George Design I was project manager and the lone writer for the magazine. I wrote every page of every issue until the network was sold to Corus and moved to Toronto. A lot of fun.

Say Magazine
Say Magazine was a national cultural and inspirational magazine aimed at Aboriginal youth, launched in 2002. I was managing editor, senior writer, and project manager for the first few issues while the magazine was produced at Taylor George Design in partnership with Trevor Kennerd Marketing.

Manitoba Prospects
As a freelancer, I worked with Trevor Kennerd Marketing and Taylor George Design in the development of the award winning Manitoba Prospects, a 32-page annual tabloid newspaper distributed to over 100,000 students and young people in Manitoba. I was editor and usually the only writer for each issue.

APTN Program Guide
After WTN moved to Toronto, Taylor George Design acquired APTN as a client. Again, I was responsible for writing the quarterly program guide… smaller than WTN Magazine, but still a cover to cover writing job.

Assorted brochures, ads, etc
I worked with a number of designers at Taylor George Design and later at McKim Cringan George in developing content for a wide range of clients including retail, corporate, media, and government. Although I specialized in large, content-based projects (magazines, books), the bulk of writing at an agency is of the shorter variety.

Books
I wrote 14 novels under my own name and a couple of pseudonyms between 1988 and 2001. During that time, I was also copywriting for local agencies and studios. You can still find the books in used bookstores, or on Amazon. I still write, but mostly shorter work these days.
